Areas: Combining 1 night Arusha (Legendary Lodge), 2 nights Tarangire (Chem Chem), 2 nights Ngorongoro Crater region (Ngorongoro Crater Lodge), 3 nights Serengeti (Singita Faru Faru)
Overnight: Legendary Lodge
Arrive into Kilimanjaro International Airport where you will be met by an Asilia driver. Transfer to your accommodation for the night – a journey of between 30 minutes and an hour depending on traffic. If you have time free this afternoon and wish to sightsee, we can offer a range of activities around Arusha – ask your Asilia consultant for details. Otherwise simply relax in the pretty gardens and recover from your international flights before your safari begins tomorrow.
One of Arusha’s most stylish properties, located on the west of Arusha, approximately one hour’s drive from Kilimanjaro International Airport and just ten minutes from the domestic airport from which you’ll fly to the first point of your safari in this itinerary. There are just ten cottages here, each with décor that blends modern style with a nod to Tanzania’s colonial heritage. There is also a gym, sauna and fine dining restaurant.
Overnight: Chem Chem
You will fly throughout this itinerary rather than drive – so today you will be driven to Arusha airport for your short light aircraft flight to Kuro airstrip in Tarangire (20 minute flight, 15 kg luggage limit per person in soft bags). A guide from Chem Chem will meet you here and game drive you through the park and across into the conservancy where Chem Chem is based in a wilderness all of its own. The afternoon activity is yours to choose from at the time – perhaps sundowners on the shore of Lake Manyara as a gentle introduction to this beautiful area.
Located on a conservancy east of Lake Manyara and west of Tarangire, this luxurious small camp offers a stylish base for safari or relaxation. There are eight tented suites with special touches such as bathtub and outdoor sala and the main camp features a swimming pool, spa, gym and viewing deck overlooking a waterhole.
Overnight: Chem Chem
Enjoy activities from Chem Chem with their expert guides – activities are shared with other guests in-camp, and include game drives in Lake Manyara or Tarangire, sundowners on a remote lakeshore, scenic helicopter flights, hot air ballooning, running with the Maasai, and walking safaris.
Ngorongoro Crater Lodge
Depart with a guide from Chem Chem who will drive you up to the Manyara airstrip, where you’ll change drivers and vehicles, travelling onward with a guide from &Beyond’s Ngorongoro Crater Lodge, your base for the next two nights. It’s approximately an hour and a half’s drive to the lodge, and you can settle in and enjoy the spectacular views over the crater from your suite, and an evening of fine dining in this iconic property
Overnight: Ngorongoro Crater Lodge
Enjoy game drives in the UNESCO World Heritage site, the Ngorongoro Crater today. This dormant volcano provides a natural sanctuary for a wonderful diversity of wildlife, including black rhino, lion, buffalo, elephant, leopard and more. Typically you will spend the morning exploring with your guide, have a picnic lunch and then depart in the mid-afternoon to your lodge to relax for the remainder of the day. (Note: game drives are on a shared basis from Ngorongoro Crater Lodge)
Overnight: Singita Faru Faru
You will be driven to the Manyara airstrip, an hour and a half’s drive away, to catch your light aircraft flight to the Singita Grumeti Reserves on the western border of the Serengeti (15 kg luggage limit per person in soft bags), approximately one hour away. Arrive in time for lunch and rest or have a swim in the pool during the heat of the day before going out on an afternoon safari activity.
Enjoying all of the wildlife of the Serengeti but all of the privacy of a private game reserve, Faru Faru is one of only four lodges, all run by Singita, who are renowned for excellence in service, guiding and style and a strong conservation focus. Faru Faru has just eight tented suites, styled with a mix of African and Scandinavian touches, as well as a spa, swimming pool and unique activities on offer including horse riding safaris.
Days 7 & 8:
Overnight: Singita Faru Faru
Enjoy game viewing with the expert guides exploring the Singita Grumeti Reserves. Activities are shared with other guests but there is a wide variety to choose from: game drives, walking safaris, visits to the anti-poaching observation post and community visits.
Day 9: Return to Kilimanjaro
After breakfast in camp, you will be driven to the airstrip for your light aircraft flight to Kilimanjaro Airport in Arusha, a flight of approximately 3 hours depending on the number of stops made along the way to drop off/pick up passengers (15 kg luggage limit per person in soft bags). You’ll land into the international airport and can check in for your international flight home
