A shortened version of the classic Tanzanian Northern Circuit, suitable for those with a little less time but still including highlights such as the Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti National Park. Experience some of East Africa’s most wildliferich national parks, and travel with your own private safari guide and 4x4 vehicle throughout (excluding the return journey from the Serengeti to Kilimanjaro which will be taken in scheduled light aircraft).

Overnight: Arusha Villa
Arrive into Kilimanjaro International Airport where you will be met by an Asilia driver. Transfer to your accommodation for the night – a journey of between 30 minutes and an hour depending on traffic. If you have time free this afternoon and wish to sightsee, we can offer a range of activities around Arusha – ask your Asilia consultant for details. Otherwise simply relax in the pretty gardens and recover from your international flights before your safari begins tomorrow.
Set in stunning gardens, just outside town, Arusha Villa offers a luxurious start to any safari. On clear days both Mt Meru and Mt Kilimanjaro can be seen from the terrace. Relax in the pool during the day enjoy after dinner drinks around the cosy fireplace in the evening. The 8 rooms are large and stylish, all with private balconies and huge ensuite bathrooms
Overnight: Kitela Lodge
Your Asilia safari guide will meet you this morning after breakfast and you will depart in your 4x4 private safari vehicle for the small town of Karatu. The journey will take around 4-5 hours and will provide plenty of opportunities to see local life as you pass small villages and towns. As you get closer to the Great Rift Valley the scenery will change, more and more small farms and coffee plantations will appear until you arrive in the small market town of Karatu – your gateway and access point to the Ngorongoro Highlands.
With only 20 rooms and set in beautifully kept gardens, Kitela Lodge is a peaceful and stylish choice in the Karatu area. The surrounding views of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area from the colonial cottage style suits are stunning and each room has a private terrace from which to take it all in. The swimming pool and spa are perfect for relaxing and after bumpy game drives

Enjoy game drives in the UNESCO World Heritage site, the Ngorongoro Crater today. This dormant volcano provides a natural sanctuary for a wonderful diversity of wildlife, including black rhino, lion, buffalo, elephant, leopard and more. Typically, you will spend the morning exploring with your guide, have a picnic lunch and then depart in the mid-afternoon to your lodge to relax for the remainder of the day.
Overnight: Olakira Camp
An early breakfast before you depart with your driver-guide for the open plains of the Serengeti. You will drive around the western part of the Ngorongoro crater before dropping down into the savannah and entering the park through the Naabi Hill gate, stopping in a shady spot for lunch. Once you’re within the Serengeti you will game drive as you make your way to Ndutu which is in the southern region of the park, stopping to enjoy wildlife sightings on the way. Arrive at your camp in the mid/ late afternoon and enjoy a well-earned rest before dinner
Olakira Camp is the ideal choice for those looking for the location advantages of a mobile camp without any sacrifices to comfort and luxury. The 10 large and luxurious tents are raised up on platforms off the ground and solar power provides electricity and hot/cold running water in the ensuite bathrooms. A benefit unique to Olakira is that a portion of each tent boasts a 270-degree view from beneath a meshed net, offering you an outdoor experience whilst remaining indoors. The stargazing tents allow you the flexibility to roll your bed into the meshed area for a magical experience of sleeping beneath the stars. A truly special way to experience the Serengeti!
Overnight Olakira Migration Camp
Enjoy game drives with your driver-guide exploring the open savannah of the Serengeti in the early morning and late afternoon, returning to camp for lunch. You can also pack a picnic and go out for a full day if you wish. The density and diversity of wildlife in the Serengeti is second to none, with plentiful big cats, elephant, buffalo, giraffe and so much more. Hot air ballooning is also possible at an additional cost (prebooking recommended) for an unforgettable way to start your day, soaring high above the park at sunrise and enjoying a champagne cooked breakfast afterwards.
Return to Kilimanjaro
After breakfast in camp, you will be driven to the airstrip for your light aircraft flight to Kilimanjaro Airport in Arusha, a flight of approximately 3 hours depending on the number of stops made along the way to drop off/pick up passengers (15 kg luggage limit per person in soft bags). You’ll land into the international airport and can check in for your international flight home.
